2. Site X has a significant number of incoming domain links
3. Page Y’s search engine placement improves dramatically as it increases the number of linking websites that fit Site X’s profile
4. Page Y starts appearing higher than Page Z, which has a higher number of incoming page and domain links, but whose linking sites have less number of domain links than the sites linking to Page Y.
I analyzed the search results for the search phrase “Jewish Singles” and got the following results.

Upon deeper investigation, we see that many of the sites linking to http://www.jsinglescruise.com/index.asp are from publishing sites like Blogspot and Tripod. These sites have incoming domain links in the hundreds of millions.
Summary: getting links from sites with a large number of incoming domain links can significantly improve your search engine placement. Publishing websites like Blogger, WordPress, About.com all fit this profile. Writing articles for and getting links on blogs on these platforms can significantly help your search engine optimization.
